When a sudden snow storm caused a massive crisis costing the lives of several austin residents, the Austin Justice Coalition was one of the first responders to organize food and supplies drives for those in need, especially under-served populations. At the forefront of the ongoing struggle in our Austin community, AJC fosters racial reckoning and reconciliation in by acknowledging the ties to racism across systems that are leading to the decreasing Black and Brown populations in Austin and beyond, and centering all of its programs, initiatives, and policies across quality of life areas on racial equity and building community power.
We discuss fundraising, what the AJC does and how it uses funds, the snow storm and it’s effects on minority communities, and how Briona uses her podcast to connect and network with the Austin community.
