On this week’s episode of Be On Air, we had the opportunity to interview two amazing women and foster parents, Dorcas Porter and her daughter Tibby Porter. Dorcas Porter has just received the lifetime achievement award from the National Youth Advocate Program and has been the foster parent of the month many times. She has been a foster parent for over 40 years, fostering over 500 children during that time. In addition to that she is the community outreach specialist at the Youth Advocate Services Agency in Ohio. Her daughter Tibby Porter as well as their family’s community has been a part of raising and teaching hundreds of children the power of love and how to reach excellence within themselves.
We explore the lifelong journeys of both Dorcas and Tibby as well as the support that they grew up with, provided and continue to extend out to their foster children. Dorcas and Tibby both advocate unconditional love, being there, consistent structure, and listening as the keys to how they were able to help so many children. This interview has so much value and bits of wisdom that everyone can benefit from. Remember to look out for Dorcas Porter’s book when it comes out later this year!
